"Joanna Borkowska to Exhibit at Art Monaco 10 - Salon d'Art Contemporain"

Joanna Borkowska's work will be exhibited in Monaco at Art Monaco'10, a major international art fair, from April 29 to May 2. This museum-style exhibit, the first of its kind in the Principality, will present more than 2000 modern and contemporary works of art by over 500 artists in the Grimaldi Forum's 35,000 square foot Diaghilev Exhibition Hall. Well-known, hand-picked galleries from around the world will present pieces by Warhol, Miro, Picasso, Poliakoff, Vasarely, Philippe Pastor, among other influential artists, as well as works by emerging talent. Joanna Borkowska has been a Premiere Portfolio Member at absolutearts.com since 2009.
Ms. Borkowska is a new figure making her way onto the art scene. The artist's deep connection with Nature is the source of her creative energy and vision. Bold use of colors, harmony, order and clarity forge the powerful character of her canvases, which open a gate to her intimate contemplative world.
The artist writes that "the creative process is a collaborative effort, but the artist is responsible for the ultimate outcome. I work in a partnership with Nature in order to prepare a space in which I can establish contact with the essence of a form - either from the material world or the world of ideas. A painting gradually evolves from the mutual discovery and exploration between the artist and this form; it is a reflection of this dynamic. The resulting piece of art develops its own independent existence, becoming a new form creating a potentially infinite number of interactions and interrelations with the viewer."
Ms. Borkowska holds a doctorate in political science from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. After having conducted research in Montpellier, Carcassonne, Paris and Oxford, she wrote her dissertation and published a book on Catharism, a medieval heretical movement. In 2007, she left her academic career to devote all of her energy to painting, her lifelong passion.
She debuted last year with a solo exhibition in the National Museum in Szczecin, Poland. Her new exhibit, Experience 8, will be on display in Krakow's Center for Contemporary Art - Solvay from April 8 to April 30, 2010.
