Be Kind To Animals Exhibition and Award Celebration Sunday, May 2, 2-4 pm Do you love animals? Do you love artwork by students? Then we have the event for you. Join us and the winners of the Atlanta Humane Society’s “Be Kind To Animals” annual art competition. The 60 winning artworks by students from kindergarten to 12th grade will be on view in the lobby of the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center all weekend. The award ceremony takes place from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, May 2. In our Shop, we have for sale Peace, Love, Paws: The Art of Being Kind, a charming book of children’s art and witty quotes about animals. It makes a great gift and proceeds benefit the Atlanta Humane Society.

The Forward Arts Foundation Awards $20,000 Grant We are pleased to announce a $20,000 grant from The Forward Arts Foundation in support of our Studio Artist Program. We thank The Forward Arts Foundation for their past and continued support of the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and local artists.

NEXUS AWARD JUBILATION! A stylish and enthusiastic crowd of Atlanta arts professionals and community movers and shakers came to celebrate the first inaugural presentation of the Nexus Award to Andrea Barnwell Brownlee and Jerry Cullum. Fabulous food was accompanied by tasty signature martinis, and shake your you-know-what music rocked the packed lobby as old and new friends congratulated the recipients. In case you couldn’t make it because volcanic ash kept you in Europe, you are sure to hear about Andrea’s heartfelt and deep-breath inducing acceptance speech, followed by Jerry’s poetic remarks about the creative and critical life. It was a great evening of celebrating the achievements of two humble and hardworking souls.
