Change Speaker
Series event. Mahnaz Afkhami is the Founder and President of Women’s Learning Partnership, Executive
Director of the Foundation for Iranian Studies, and Chairwoman of the International Museum of Women’s Global Council. Afkhami, exiled from Iran
under threat of death during the Iranian Revolution, has worked as a leading advocate for women’s rights internationally for more than three
decades. Afkhami will speak about the status of women in the Middle East and North Africa, how to engage women in these regions in the global economy,

| Speaker Event: Women, Islam, and Reform in the Middle EastAttend a Speaker Event in San Francisco Featuring Isobel Coleman |
Isobel Coleman | IMOW is proud to co-sponsor “Women, Islam, and Reform in the Middle
East” with the World Affairs Council. Join us on May 18 for this special speaker event with Isobel Coleman, senior fellow for
U.S. Foreign Policy and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Coleman will speak about the growing
grassroots movement among women in the Middle East who are demanding equal rights, a topic she explores in her new book, Paradise Beneath Her
Feet: Women and Change in the Middle East. Coleman argues that the success of the Islamic feminist movement is critical to stabilizing the
Islamic world, and could be one of our best tools against extremism. Event Details: May 18 at

Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide” with her husband Nicholas Kristof. The event will feature WuDunn in conversation
with Kavita Ramdas, President and CEO of the Global Fund for Women, the world’s largest grantmaking foundation focused exclusively on supporting
