Dear Friend,

I'm writing to invite you to a very special brunch and benefit that I'm hosting for ISSUE Project Room.

On Sunday June 6, from Noon-2pm at Bussaco restaurant in Park Slope, Emmy-Award winning journalist and co-host of
The Takeaway on NPR, John Hockenberry, will host an intimate interview and discussion with actor, writer, and director Steve Buscemi examining the power of "actor as auteur" in driving a film's narrative and impact.
The conversation will be accompanied by clips highlighting his memorable roles in Fargo, Resevoir Dogs, Living in Oblivion, Trees Lounge, Ghost World, The Big Lebowski, Barton Fink and more. Brunch will also be served.

Like many of you, the arts are essential to my life in New York with Brooklyn's cultural development rapidly taking center stage.  In the last few years, ISSUE Project Room has emerged as a central nexus in Brooklyn for New York's most innovative writers, musicians, and other performing artists.

I'm thrilled that both Steve and John have generously committed their time and talent in support of ISSUE, and I hope you can join us for what I think will be a truly unique event.

Bussaco Restaurant, 833 Union Street, Brooklyn -- on Sunday, June 6 @ Noon

The cost for the event is $125 per person ($95 tax-deductible), and proceeds will benefit ISSUE's critically acclaimed programming and our move to a new 20-year rent-free space within the historic McKim, Mead, and White building at 110 Livingston in Downtown Brooklyn.

If you'd like to attend, you can reserve tickets online here.

ISSUE is registered 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Brooklyn.  ISSUE was founded by the late visionary artist Suzanne Fiol in 2003 and has rapidly grown in response to the needs of the artistic community, now producing more than 200 music, literary, visual arts, sound design, film/video events each year.

In 2008, in recognition of ISSUE's vital role in the Brooklyn cultural community, ISSUE was competitively selected to receive a 20-year rent-free lease to an historic 4,800 sq. ft. theater space at 110 Livingston in downtown Brooklyn.  The space is in need of $2.5 million in renovations before it can be used to serve the public, and to date ISSUE has raised $1.183 million, thanks in large part to a capital grant from Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.  Once renovated, the space will serve more than 1,000,000 people with cutting edge performances, emerging artist training programs, youth education and outreach and more.  To make a donation in support of ISSUE, .
