The Great Outdoors
17 June - 1 August 2010
aspex’s Summer
selling show brings together a fantastic selection of artwork and products that
have everything to do with not being indoors, whatever the weather. As
it’s festival season the focus of the products on display is camping and
picnicking but with a healthy dose of style and glamour, featuring makers such
as Thornback & Peel, Anorak and Thorsten van Elten.
The Great Outdoors will also include the 2D work of Adam
Bridgland, Ed Boxall, Sarah Fotheringham and Ed Pearman, the films and
sculptures of Simon Woolham, the craftwork of Lizzie Thomas, and an interactive
sound piece by Robert Jarvis.

Editors’ Notes
The Great Outdoors
continues the programme of intriguing and lively exhibitions and projects at
aspex,
Portsmouth’s leading contemporary art gallery. Founded in 1981,
aspex
moved into new premises in the Vulcan Building on the waterfront at Gunwharf
Quays in December 2006. The transformation of this disused naval storehouse into
a bright and inviting arts space, combines the best of the old and the new, and
won a Royal Institute of British Architects award in 2007.
