This is an invitation to attend the preview for our new show on Wednesday morning, June 23. This Hudson River School artist is best known for his landscapes, seascapes, and watercolors. I hope you can join us. Admission to the museum, the exhibition, and the preview is free. Visitor parking costs $1.50 per hour weekdays (free after 4 pm weekdays plus all day on weekends.)

Exhibition Opens on June 23, continues through September 26 This exhibition presents 75 drawings, watercolors, and studies made during the 50-year career of one of Americaâs most famous landscape artists. FREE PROGRAMS
Free Lecture Thursday, June 24, at 6 pm in the Center's auditorium Guest curator Carol M. Osborne, Ph.D., speaks about William Trost Richardsâs work. Osborne was the museumâs associate director and chief curator until she retired in 1993. Free Family Films on the Lawn Picnics, blankets, and lawn chairs are encouraged. Bring a picnic or buy a boxed dinner (cash sale) until 8 pm at the Cool Cafe. Download the free, one-hour podcast at http://museum.stanford.edu/speakingaboutart.html OTHER GALLERIES Artistsâ depictions of nature, from William Keith's large California landscapes to Georgia OâKeeffeâs painting of seaweed, appear throughout the museumâs 24 galleries. An elaborate feathered tunic from South America brings attention to the rarity of exotic bird feathers used for powerful body adornment, as well as our 21st-century awareness of ecological fragilities, on view May 12 to October. In the Faculty Choice series, Mark Feldman, instructor in Stanfordâs Program in Writing and Rhetoric, investigates depictions of nature from Center collections in a display entitled âOut of the Wild,â on view until March 2011. Free admission to all galleries within the museum.
