DENVER, COLORADO - 5/19/10 -
The
exhibition of Small Works includes artwork in a variety of mediums
including
painting, printmaking, mixed media, and sculpture.
All
six artists exemplify a high quality of artistic technique in
small
forms, with no work larger than 20 inches.
Work by CSU professors James Dormer & Paul Flippen will be on view. Dormer is a
member of the Boston Printmakers and recently
had a piece acquired into the permanent collection of the Center for Contemporary
Printmaking in Norwalk, CT. Stanley Scott is a recent graduate from the CSU
Masters in Fine Arts program and studied under Dormer. One of the sculptors
whose work will be on display, Donna Malpiede McNulty recently began showing at
Translations Gallery and is recognized for her dynamic, intricately-woven copper
sculptures. Another sculptor, Ruth Borgencht, is recognized for her movable
ceramic sculptures that are based on chain mail. Borgenicht has work in the
permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art among other
museums. The exhibition of Small Works will include all types of artwork for a
broad audience.
The side gallery will display Bruce Marion's
landscapes. Marion's work was on view in November of 2009, and was such a
success that the gallery decided to show more of his amazing landscapes. There
will be three new pieces on display along with several others. The appease of
Marion's work comes from his recognition of the spiritual nature of the Colorado
landscape.
