More information
From reliquaries for the ashes of the dearly departed to attentive rooks, 'Four', the latest addition to the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol  programme this July features four West Country female artists.

A vibrant mix of two and three dimentional  art, Angie Kenber paints bold colourful abstract figures, Feona Ness  paints semi abstract atmospheric landscapes, Mary Collett  produces etchings and linocut prints of animals and birds such as 'The Attentive Rook', and Gloria Armstrong creates Byzantium inspired textile vessels.

Also exhibiting this summer, Roger Conlon presents his latest show, 'City Life', focusing on the colourful urban life of Bristol. From the kite fliers gathered in Ashton Park to the graffitied walls of Stokes Croft, Roger Conlon paints the permanent and temporary landmarks of  this west country city. Roger has exhibited internationally and is the associate dean for the faculty of creative arts, UWE.

Four exhibits in the RWA New Gallery 3 July - 1 August and City Life in the RWA Milner Gallery 2-27 July, both are free entry.

In the RWA main gallery until 4 July is 'The Fourth Wall' by international painter Stephen Farthing RA, and 18 July - 5 September is the RWA artist exhibition 'Near and Far' and David Hockney's etchings 'Grimm's Fairy Tales'.

The RWA is open all week.  For more details call 0117 973 5129 or visit www.rwa.org.uk.
