Oakville Galleries’ upcoming exhibitions and events
September – November 2010

Exhibitions

Diabolique
18 September – 14 November
Oakville Galleries in Gairloch Gardens and at Centennial Square
Organized and circulated by the Dunlop Art Gallery
Curated by Amanda Cachia

Please join Oakville Galleries for our fall exhibition opening on Sunday 19 September from 2:30 pm–3:30 pm at Oakville Galleries at Centennial Square, followed by a reception at Oakville Galleries in Gairloch Gardens from 3:30 pm–5:00 pm. Diabolique curator Amanda Cachia will be present to speak about the exhibition.

Diabolique brings together twenty-one artists who address the impact of war, violence and human conflict on contemporary life. An electric mix of dark scenes and evocative narratives, the works in this exhibition pose pressing questions about the human capacity for violence. Marked by tangible and intangible elements of anxiety, hope and struggle, banalities and birthrights, and sublime truths within harsh realities, Diabolique begs contemplation of social and political crises both close to home and global in scale.

The presentation of this exhibition has been made possible in part through a contribution from the Department of Canadian Heritage.
