Roy-Prieur, Mixed Media/Engraving on Aluminum
Roy-Prieur Small
Jérôme Prieur & Marie-Josée Roy
Méninges

OPENING: Saturday Oct. 9th, 7-11pm
CELLA GALLERY SATELLITES are thrilled to present internationally known artists Marie-Josée Roy and Jérôme Prieur in the first complete show of their spectacular collaborative works.

Marie-Josée Roy and Jérôme Prieur have been friends for over 20 years, supporting each others careers, participating in numerous group shows and spending countless hours discussing:  conceptualization, inspirations, techniques and how each one internalizes and expresses their passion for the arts. Their art has continuously evolved and it now stands as a parallel to the artists themselves; two distinct personalities, each with their own unique artistic vision, that complements and uplifts the other.

In 2009 Marie-Josée was invited to present a solo-show at the Montréal headquarters of Le Cirque du Soleil.  She asked Jérôme if he would
collaborate on one piece. At the opening in May 2010, it was clear that the collaborative work, a substantial image (48" x 60") of a young girl with
butterfly wings painted on aluminum and engraved with endless details, was the preeminent work of the show; a perfect fusion of two distinct artistic
talents and visions. Following the success of this one piece, the artists have been asked to show their collaborative works in galleries in LA, New York, Toronto, and Montréal.

Marie-Josée expresses that which is internal, with themes of the spiritual and intuitive. Her work is gestural and free. Jérôme's work is the visualization of a perfectionist; it is calculated, mechanical, repetitive, excessive and claustrophobic. The marriage of these two styles results in the internal becoming external and the excessive being gently contained. This show will give the viewer a complete view of each artist as individuals and as a collaborative dyad. This show is as much as study of the artists as it is a showcase for their art.

THE OPENING RECEPTION IS FREE AND FEATURES A LIVE DJ, AN INTERACTIVE WEBCAST AND FREE LIBATIONS COURTESY OF PAMA AND HPNOTIQ LIQUEURS.

Something from Nothing

Cella Gallery is throwing a down-and-dirty art show of original PUNK GIG POSTERS by artist Paul D'Elia from SCREENIN 4 A CHANGE. We will have over 100 limited edition gig posters from DIY PUNK BANDS, including: Avail, Bad Antics, Blacklisted, Marked, Modern Life is War, The Mongoloids, Paint it Black, Punch in the Face, The Repos and Ruiner, just to name a few.

Paul D'Elia is the artist behind Screenin 4 A Change Studios out of Los Angeles, CA. The effort started as a screen printing experiment with gig posters during college to help promote and give back to the DIY punk music scene. Paul grew up calling that scene his home and it remains the source for much of his inspiration today. Over the past 6 years Screenin 4 A Change has transitioned from a small idea into a full fledge artistic perspective that is both exciting and provocative. Paul's work can also been seen adorning many in the surf and skate sub-cultures on his t-shirts designed exclusively for Quicksilver.
