Pop and Contemporary Fine Art proudly presents the grandfather of Pop Art Andy Warhol
The son of Czech immigrants, Andy Warhol was born Andrew Warhola in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania in 1928. After studying at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (now Carnegie Mellon University) he moved to New York There he began a very w-, successful career as a commercial artist working with department stores and advertising agencies
as well as for Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Glamour and The New York Times.
Andy Warhol will be best remembered as the most famous exponent of Pop Art where he took the
technique of silk screening to a completely new level. Warhol also had the gift of understanding
"defining moments" and important people of a generation and the ability of bringing people
together with every day icons and household items. Taking images from popular culture, Warhol
created many paintings that remain icons of 20th-century art, such as the Campbell's Soup Cans,
Disasters and Marilyns.
For any collector or enthusiast who wishes to appreciate Pop Art, its origins, its development and
its soul, Warhol's works are a must see!
Pop and Contemporary Fine Art are very happy to give yet another fifteen minutes of fame to a
true legend, who has inspired thousands, if not hundreds of thousands in their pursuit of art. All
pieces from the exhibition will be available for sale.
