Located in the Carmel Arts & Design District
(CARMEL, IN---OCT. 26, 2010) The
Renaissance Fine Art and Design Gallery in Carmel, Indiana proudly welcomes the
unveiling of brand new works by friends Harry Sandler of New York and Barbara M.
Ventura of Miami beginning on Thursday, November 18 through Friday, December 31,
2010. Admission is
free.
Sandler’s
Allusions of Reality features images from his frequent
travels to various parts of the world. All of the images are captured and
processed using the IPhone4 and the various applications available. The
gallery show includes images from Iceland, Spain, Scotland, Canada and
various other locations stretching across the United States from New York
City to Santa Monica and points in between.
Sandler’s images are spontaneous
“snapshots” of life taken through the modern technology inherent in
the IPhone4. The visceral images in this collection come from somewhere inside
of the artist and are a result of years of experience and endless hours behind
the lens, including time spent working with various alternative processes
like Platinum, Gum and Gold over Platinum
printing.
Mr. Sandler has been a photographer
nearly all of his life, including a stint as rock and roll
photographer capturing images for the likes of Rolling Stone
and Circus magazines. Additionally, he has made a career in
entertainment away from the camera, serving in various roles over the years
such as Film and Video Producer and Tour Management. In this respect,
he has worked with some of entertainments most elite acts, like
Barbara Streisand, John Mellencamp, Eagles, Billy Joel, Jewel, Van Halen,
Bruce Springsteen and Stevie
Nicks.
According to Sandler, “My passion
for photography started at age 6 when my father gave me an early Polaroid
camera. I became completely intoxicated watching images appear as you peeled the
print from the back of the camera. While I spent a good deal of time
learning the technical aspects of photography, I was always attracted to a
more alternative expressionist feel in my
images.
The IPhone4 is eerily reminiscent of
that first Polaroid – a virtual camera and darkroom in your pocket. Only
now with the advent of IPhone4 applications, one can alter the image to
suit that internal vision. It also allows me to push the rules and add my own
touch to each and every image – right there on the
spot.
Additionally, I enjoy the ability to
post the images instantly on various platforms on the world-wide-web and gain
instant feedback from around the world. I love that aspect of having friends out
there who can enjoy the images
instantly.”
“On a personal note I am very
proud to be sharing this show with my good friend Barbara Miriam Ventura. I
first met Barbara last March while attending a workshop in Death Valley - we
became instant friends, as if we had known each other for a lifetime. I
have utmost respect for her creativity and vision and have a learned a great
deal from her over the past
year.”

Ventura’s
Majesty Unfolding features two separate bodies of work
“The Flowering Tulips” and “Unfoldment”.
“The Flowering Tulips” is a
meditation and the unveiling of the essence of being within the simple grace and
beauty of a flower. White tulips with their soft texture and shine present
a radiant display of purity, gentleness, and grace and light emanating through
those, whom as a flower, bloom and unfold to the full expression of love and
life. The body forms, which represent each of our unique expressions of
life, are shaped and formed in the image of that one radiance to unveil the
beautiful openness and availability of the love that we
are.
“I believe one must move beyond
the dualistic concept of an artist and his or her work in order to create and
experience art in its essential timeless expression,” said
Ventura.
“Unfoldment” is for those
who have come to realize that life's journey is really about the discovery of
who we are as well as the exquisite expression of our true nature. As the
observer engages and connects with the photograph a sense of inward reflection
allows an opening to the depths of self. This is exemplified in the gentle
exposure of a tender flower in a free exhibition of itself. The images warmly
entreat a careful consideration of the flowering of human consciousness and
invite an understanding of the dance of life between creator and
creation.

“It is with great pleasure that
we can play host to both Harry and Barbara’s work. The two of them
have been featured in our gallery for visitors, but never to this extent,”
explained Kathleen Stevens, Owner of the Renaissance Fine Art & Design Gallery.
“This will be a rare opportunity for the public to consume such a vast
array of their works.”
