Bert Green Fine Art is pleased to present a guest curated group show of artists from France, and a solo show by Peter Romberg. Note that beginning this month, our opening receptions will be held on the Wednesday evening PRIOR to the monthly Downtown Art Walk.

Th!inkArt of Chicago and Paris guest curates this exhibition of contemporary French artists who are blazing a trail with an existential angst entwined with humor about mortality. The work of these artists is a window into the nature of French culture and art today--always asking the questions: what does it mean, why are we here, what is our purpose, where do we go? Artists featured are James Coignard, David Gista, Emmanuelle Renard, Florent Moutti, Francois Weil, Hervé Di Rosa, Ladislas Kijno, Max Papart, Michel Haas, Monique Tello, Todd Narbey, Nicolas Kennett, Antonio Segui, and Toufik Medjamia.

Peter Romberg has his second solo show with the gallery, expanding on his themes of corporeality as the arbiter of aesthetic truth. Romberg's notions of deformity as a standard of beauty directly contradict and challenge traditional norms and expectations, allowing revulsion to give way to respect.

In the Project Windows, Richard Ankrom returns to BGFA for the second time with "Water and Power," a neon installation which uses electricity and light to mimic the movement of water lapping on the shore. Bright and exuberant, Ankrom brings one of Los Angeles's signature tropes, Owens Valley Water, to a metaphoric central location in the heart of Downtown.

All gallery events are free and open to the public. Exhibition information, press releases and high resolution images may be found at the gallery website at http://www.bgfa.us.
