RW Ruehlen Artist
Ryan Ruehlen joined us earlier in the summer At our September First Friday event, we debuted his new collective narrative of work "The Life-Death-Life Monster and all its
Phenomenal Cycles". Each of the ten separate works or "chapters" is a glimpse into
the overall story of the many cycles of renewal that each individual
may go through time and time again. The central piece, or confessional,
is the main theme that ties the other nine smaller works together,
since it is focused around the moment of fruition, sacrifice, and
cleansing. Each of the other "chapters" are states of psychological
maneuvering, whether they be distress, mystery, guidance, uncovering,
travel, birth or death. It is a rare person who is able and willing to
die and be reborn on their own without the aid and comfort, the
direction and intuition of another being. We all seek community to
assist us in difficult and plentiful times, and the confession, with
its positive and negative connotations, is an essential tool that makes
humans what we are and what we may become. Please come by to view these pieces and perhaps collect a "chapter" of your own! Art Shown - "Three Spirits Migrating on Jupiter the Whalaphant", Sizes Vary, Acrylic on Canvas |
Atom Basham - Artist
Welcome our latest artist ATOM BASHAM - a self taught master of Monsters that might be in your head. Atom got his first taste of gallery life with us at Septembers First Friday - when he heard for the first time ever comments about his art and not from family or friends. A star in the gallery that night, this 36 year old artist has been saving his art - for a show "someday" - Now, and solely at Sapere Art. We are glad that he ran out of space on his apartment walls! Art Shown - "Tree Girl" 36" x 36", Acrylic and Ink on Board Visit his Gallery

Eulalio Fabie deSilva
Eulalio Fabie DeSilva, a second generation painter and son of painter Bueno Silva joined us in August. He paints within the genres and imbued sentimentalities of the Expressionists and the Abstract Expressionists . Humor, lies, prejudices
and dreams all wrapped up are found in every brushstroke. The
frustrations, joy and the uncertainties in every hue. The faces of
known and unknown figures showing indifference and sincerity are
explored. Comforting as well as unchartered fields peopled with trees
or the interiors of dwellings co-exist with the figures. The angst and
the enthusiasm of living. The Yin and Yangs of life. Art.
Art Shown - "The Writing Man", 49" x 49" Oil on Canvas Visit his Gallery |
Gallery Redux
August leading into September was a busy month. With now 16 artists and over 275 works on canvas, board and paper, more space was needed to adequately display at least a representation of each artists work. So, Gary "lost" part of his studio, took down the Wizard of Oz "Purole Curtain" and expanded the gallery an additional 250 square feet. Go visit the gallery online better yet, VISIT US IN PERSON. On that subject, Wicker Park has long been the subject of horrible parking conditions. Gary has not paid, nor had problems with parking in almost 3 months - just 2 blocks away, around Wicker Park itself - is NON ZONED, NON METERED parking. In fact a lot of Wicker Park is not zoned (shhhh...) Everyone has heard about the "Parking Meter" controversy in Chicago - well its good for customers! Due to residents and employees of businesses not wishing to ante up, loads of parking is available in our area during the days. Since it IS a dining and night club/entertainment area, the evenings do tend to get crowded - but AMPLE valet parking is available at clubs and restaurants. There is ALWAYS public transportation as well. We are one block from the Blue Line, Damen Stop and also stops for the North, Milwaukee and Damen buses !

Greetings!
Hi. After just being in business for three short months, and only having concepted this idea about 5 months ago, I thought it time to catch you up to date on current artists and some upcoming events. I have spent most of my "marketing time" on Facebook due to ease, but realize that not all are on that venue where we currently have 4,350 Fans from across the globe.
Facebook is fun with daily postings by me, as well as daily interaction with our international fans. Since I allow fans to post art, we have people such as Efraim, a fly fishing guide/artist from Patagonia, Argentina, or Stefania from Italy, Gabriel from Crete, Greece, Huda from Jedda, Saudi Arabia and Raimondo from Palermo, Italy sharing their art with us. In fact, via that source, Sapere Art has been asked by the government of Palermo to bring "Chicago Art" to Sicily as their guest. One will keep you up to date!
Talking with our international fans is fun. Many use Google Translation tools to either write into, or read another language. I can say that I have learned to talk "literal" English when translating into a language!
If you are "on" Facebook - join the fun on our Page and become a fan!
NEW ALLIANCES
A well known restaurant in town has requested that art from our Gallery be hosted on the walls of their establishment here in Wicker Park, so you might be seeing some art in a popular wine bar soon, or perhaps, when you pick up your favorite latte in another place. More about that when details and art are firmed up, rather hung up!

I'd like to thank you all for your interest in Sapere Art/Intuitive Works. It is fans, clients and friends that make it a big difference and a worthy endeavor for me to undertake. Being an entrepreneur isn't always easy, fun or rewarding. I've got two of them down, and maybe someday I can afford an employee for the rest!
Sincerely,
Gary W. Marr, CCBW*
