Exhibitors – Editions Booths

18 September 2009

Zoo 2009 is pleased to announce a new section for October’s event dedicated to artists’ limited editions and multiples presented by public and private institutions and organisations. With prices ranging from £10 to £4,000, at an average of £200, the Editions section offers an unparalleled opportunity for all who possess an interest in contemporary art to collect works at an accessible level from some of today’s most exciting artists. Often produced to accompany major exhibitions at highly respected institutions, many of these limited edition works have been purchased for major collections, as well as by key collectors. Whether looking to begin or add to a collection, the Zoo 2009 Editions section will offer a broad audience the confidence to purchase art from an expertly considered selection of works.

Within a new multi-site location situated in London’s East End, Europe’s largest cultural quarter, the producers of Zoo Art Fair present Zoo 2009. Taking on an adapted structure, the event brings together over fifty contemporary arts organisations and practitioners, through a series of curated exhibitions and stand presentations.

In addition to the Editions section, Zoo 2009 showcases 21 emerging galleries, project spaces, artist collectives, curatorial groups and publishers in a series of stand presentations. Alongside these, individual works by 14 artists will be showcased in a specially dedicated Solo Works section. Within Zoo 2009’s hybrid format, stand and booth exhibitors will bring the dynamic of an art fair to exist alongside the more contemplative exhibition zones. These include four specially curated exhibitions by FormContent, LUX, Rob Tufnell and Studio Voltaire as well as solo shows of last year’s winners of the Champagne Perrier-Joüet Prize – Scoli Acosta and the John Jones Art on Paper Award – Clunie Reid. Bringing together all elements of the event, a special full-page colour publication – Zoo Catalogue – will be kindly sponsored by Hallett Independent.

For collectors, curators, critics, dealers, artists and art enthusiasts, Zoo 2009 remains a considered introduction to the next generation of art professionals.

About Zoo 2009

Within a new multi-site location situated in the East End, the producers of Zoo Art Fair present Zoo 2009. An event that takes on an adapted structure, bringing together over 50 contemporary arts organisations and practitioners, through a series of exhibitions, solo shows and stand presentations. These include specially curated exhibitions by Rob Tufnell, Studio Voltaire, FormContent and LUX; solo shows by winner of the 2008 Champagne Perrier-Jouët Prize – Scoli Acosta and winner of the 2008 John Jones Art on Paper Award – Clunie Reid; as well as 25 stand presentations by young international arts galleries and project spaces. In addition the event presents a new section selling artists’ editions and multiples from major private and public institutions. Bringing together all elements of the event, a special full-page colour publication will be kindly sponsored by Hallett Independent.

This year, Zoo 2009 will produce an East End Map, highlighting over 60 contemporary art organisations within a 2 mile distance of Zoo 2009. Representing all types, from emerging to established, public to private, commercial to non-commercial spaces, it will offer visitors a unique insight into the richness of what is known to be Europe’s largest cultural quarter.

Zoo 2009 is produced by Zoo Art Enterprises – a non-profit organisation that specialises in emerging contemporary art. Zoo 2009 is sponsored by established galleries, collectors, commercial brands and arts businesses as well as public funding. Supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

For collectors, curators, critics, dealers, artists and art enthusiasts, Zoo 2009 remains a considered introduction to the next generation of art professionals.

About the site:

Occupied throughout by Nicholls & Clarke – building merchants originally described as traders of glass, lead and colour – the site comprises Victorian industrial warehouses set in cobbled streets adjacent to showrooms from the 1960s used for the display of tiles, that face onto Liverpool Street’s main thoroughfare – Bishopsgate. More recently the site has been used as a film location for historical dramas such as Sherlock Holmes.
