Very Important....
Barnes & Noble Book Fair - Friday - Sunday, October 30, 31 and November 1st - Reston Location.
These book fairs are so very important for our organization to raise funds for our scholarship fund. It is so simple if everyone will participate. All we have to do is give out coupons with our ID number and ask people to take to the register when they purchase. This does not cost the purchaser any additional money....
B&N gives LRA a percentage of the sales. (This is works in any Barnes & Noble in the USA). We will need about 20 people to spend a couple of hours in the store telling people about LRA, your own work and our scholarship fund. We have participated in two book fairs previously. The first one we earned $1200. and the second one we earned only $685. I know we can do better - especially coming up on the holidays. PLEASE, PLEASE PARTICIPATE. We would like to give more scholarships next year. Kathy Kautter - kkautter@aol.com will be coordinating the volunteers for this event.
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING -
NOVEMBER 10th - 7-10pm - Lake Anne RCC2009 as been an exciting year for LRA with several changes and member opportunities, like the Marga Fripp seminar at our last membership meeting. Since the mission of our organization is to provide its members with opportunities to grow, learn and exhibit; we thought it would be appropriate to spend time in our next general membership meeting discussing ways we can reach new heights together.
Production Interactions will host a World Café discussion which is designed to create an environment where innovative thinking will emerge. The World Café format brings participants together to deliberate on questions that can drive strategy, facilitate change, engage membership, and spark innovative ideas for future events. The expert team of consultants will facilitate the discussion which will lead members through a process of progressive, insightful discovery, and culminate in a large room debrief and next steps.
Please join us for this important direction-setting discussion and share your perspective on what we can do together to make the League of Reston Artists even more successful on 2010. More information will be posted on the website about this event.
If you have any questions about any of these events, please contact me at: cparsons1@aol.com.
Thank you, Cheryl
