The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's
Light the Night Walk

In honor of Dave Stevens, the Society of Illustrators has built a team for
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk,
and we would like you to join!
Please help us by donating or joining our team for the Walk.

"[Dave Stevens] was enormously talented, an artist whose Rocketeer series reminded everyone how good comics could be, a creator whose work literally sparkled with personality....I don't think I ever knew him quite as well as he probably knew me (and I believe many of his friends would say the same thing), but I do know that I miss him." -- Arnie Fenner, co-founder of Spectrum, co-editor of Brush with Passion: The Art and Life of Dave Stevens

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk is a nationwide evening walk that raises funds for cutting-edge cancer research and innovative programs for patients and their families.

It's a special night, celebrating and commemorating lives touched by cancer.  Walkers carry illuminated balloons- white for survivors, red for supports and gold for those who have lost a loved one to blood cancer.  Light the Night is a magical event that someday will ensure that blood cancers are eliminated.

Your help will make a difference.  Please consider walking on our team and making a commitment to raising funds.  If you can't participate, then we invite you to make a donation.

To join the team or donate money, please visit http://pages.lightthenight.org/nyc/manhattn09/societyofIllustrators

The walk takes place on October 15, 2009 at the Brooklyn Bridge.

Meet at Fulton and south streets @ pier 17 at 5:30pm for check-in.

You do not have to live in New York to participate in the walk. There are walks throughout the country. Click on the option "find local walks" to find the event nearest you!

The Society will also be donating a percentage of the proceeds from the Spectrum Exhibit to Light the Night Walk.

Please email kate@societyillustrators.org with any questions or comments!
