On Friday September 25Th we welcome
featured artist Lucas Ohio Pattie of
Lucas Ohio and the Shamblers. Music critic Rick Alan Rice writes
that
“Lucas Ohio Pattie may be the next smart young blues-folk-rocker to be
accepted into the pantheon of San Francisco Bay Area Illuminati . . . a
bright guy with a vision for something fresh and different.”
Lucas recently returned to the Bay
Area from San Luis Obispo where he led
the Shamblers while attending Cal Poly/SLO. There, he and the band
developed a large, loyal fan base, quickly becoming one of the most
talked-about bands along California’s Central Coast. Both their 2006
self-titled debut “The Shamblers” and their 2008 CD “Steps Toward
Home” were critically well-received, cementing their reputation as one of
the hottest bands between Santa Barbara and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Featuring Lucas Ohio’s powerful vocals and hard-driving, muscular,
rhythmic guitar style, he and his band emerged with an energetic sound
topographically and sonically surprising — a hard-edged rock fused with
elements of blues, folk, pop, jazz, and country. A riveting performer
delivering songs in an impassioned voice, Lucas Ohio leads a band that San
Luis Obispo’s New Times declares “a new folk rock phenomenon” — a
band exceeding the sum of its parts. “This is the real deal — killer songs,
great voice, interesting arrangements, played within a world class mix and inventive sonic pallet,
writes music critic Douglas Strobel.
Lucas Ohio Pattie’s song “All Good
People,” from his second album
“Steps Toward Home” was selected by San Francisco’s KFOG to be
included in their Local Scene 6 CD. Released just two weeks
ago, KFOG
describes this annual compilation CD as an “eclectic collection of some
of the best bands and singer-songwriters emerging from the vibrant Northern
California music scene.” When not writing and performing, Lucas works at
a winery in the Livermore Valley and brews beer. For more information
about Lucas Ohio Pattie, visit his website at www.lucasohiopattie.com.
We look forward to you joining us for a great evening, and opportunity to
hear one of the Bay Area’s hottest new artists – Lucas Ohio Pattie.
DOUG
STROBEL -solo guitar
Douglas Strobel is a solo guitarist with a diverse song list. A typical set
will include something by Bessie Smith, a solo arrangement of “When you wish
upon a star” and a Jellyroll Morton tune. He plays finger style and slide guitar.
Doug has been a musician in the San Francisco Bay Area for 40 years.A sort of
musicologist , his live explanations of these old blues classics are nearly as
entertaining as the songs, which are richly performed. Doug has played every
kind of popular music, but his specialty is writing solo guitar arrangements
for American classics.
Doug honed his skills alongside his good friend Roy Rogers; he of the Delta
Rhythm Kings, who is a master of the slide techniques that typified legendary
delta bluesman Robert Johnson.
