TOMBOLA EXHIBITION
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR ARTREACH FUNDRAISER





  

You are cordially invited to participate in a fundraising event for the
Artreach fund at the AVA. Please be so kind as to donate an artwork or
two for the first ever Tombola to be held in the Main Gallery at the AVA
from 9 November - 27 November 2009. All funds go to assisting artists
with their art making needs.

Each artwork will be displayed anonymously with the title, medium, etc,
but instead of price, your work or works will receive a number. All the
works will be given the 'value' of R600, of which R150 will go to the
artist if the works sell. All works are sold inclusive of VAT.

The Players (actually, they are the buyers of the evening) will rent a
fishing rod for R600, and will then fish a number from the fish-pond in
the centre of the Downstairs Gallery and take home the artwork with
their corresponding number when the exhibition comes down. As only well
established artists are invited to participate in this event,
disappointment will be restricted to maybe not getting the angler's
favourite artwork, but guaranteeing that they will be getting a valuable
artwork (of course swapping is allowed after the event, if it happens in
a civilized and agreeable manner).



 Guidelines:  
 


*	Artworks should not be bigger than 30 x 30 cm, and can be as
many as you want.
	
*	Please make sure that the work has the necessary hanging
hardware,  i.e. strings, sawtooth brackets etc.
	
*	There is no specific theme.
	
*	Artist must please collect their fish template/s to be handed in
with the artworks. It would be lovely if you could turn your hand to
creating interesting fishes. These will be used to put your work's
number on and go into the pond for general fishing.
	
*	Confirmation of participation:  Monday 19 October 2009.
	
*	Please drop off your work on Thursday 5 November 2009.  Make
sure the label and contact info is on your works.
	
*	Please collect unsold works no later than Friday 27 November
2009.
	
*	You will be notified whether your work was caught or not.
