WKNO Documentary on Shelby Farms Park airs October 7!
Want to experience Shelby Farms Park from the comfort of your living room? WKNO and Camys are making it possible. On October 7 at 7:00 pm, WKNO is premiering their first HD documentary, Shelby Farms: America’s Great 21st Century Park. The documentary will explore the history, present and future of the Park, including the exciting transformations the Park will experience through our Master Plan. We want you to enjoy the documentary with your friends, on your couch, pizza in hand. The first 10 hosts who register their viewing party with us and will receive a $25 Camys pizza coupon along with a discussion guide. After the show, you can join the conversation about Shelby Farms Park online. More details next week about how to register your party! Check out the interactive documentary Web site. Fall into Membership and receive free entrance to Starry Nights Fall into Membership Become a member of Shelby Farms Park at the family level ($50) during the month of October and you will receive a free entrance ticket to Starry Nights (a $20 value)! You will also be able to skip the line and enter Starry Nights through the back gate! The Shelby Farms Park disc golf t-shirt will be available for purchase online through the month of October. Belong to a disc golf club? Play on your own? Want to start playing? Get your hands on these fun t-shirts before it is too late!
We will be featuring a new t-shirt design each month on our e-store! Shelby Farms Park Merchandise, provided by Champion Awards, is available year round at our e-store. Starry Nights Returns: Volunteer Needs, Special Parties and More! Starry Nights is back, and this year we are glowing green! Starry Nights--presented by First Tennessee--will feature more than a million environmentally friendly LED lights on more than a dozen large displays. Find out more about Starry Nights at www.starrynightsmemphis.org. Volunteer! String the Starry Lights: Be a part of recreating this much missed holiday tradition by helping us string the lights! The shifts are 4-8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10-4pm on Saturdays (please do not show up without scheduling your time). Event Volunteers: If stringing lights does not fit into your schedule, you can still volunteer during the event. We need volunteers to direct traffic, take tickets, and work in the gift shop. Adopt one night or several to help us make Starry Nights the best experience it can be. We need 15-20 volunteers every night! Contact Sandee Daniels if you or your group is interested.

Party at Starry Nights Want a unique setting for your holiday event this year? Host a party under the stars with a Holiday Event Package during Starry Nights 2009. Rental space is available in the Visitor Center, and we are also offering private hayrides (regular hayrides in the Park begin October 16). Run for Parks and Greenways The Rotary Run is this Saturday, September 26. You can sign up the day of the race or preregister online at www.greatermemphisgreenline.org. The 5k starts at 8:30 am and the Fun Run begins at 9:00 am.
