Jazz bands to present "An Afternoon of Jazz"

Peoria, IL (September 25, 2009) The Bradley University Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band, under the direction of Dr. Todd Kelly, will present "An Afternoon of Jazz" on Sunday, October 18, at 3 p.m. in the
Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Ave.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform a variety of music, including "Well You Needn't," "Mr. Paganini," "Tiger of San Pedro" and "Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most."

The Jazz Ensemble is the flagship ensemble of Bradley's jazz program and recently performed at the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival, the Illinois Collegiate Jazz Festival and the Rootabaga Jam Jazz Festival
in Galesburg.  In July, they performed for 10 days in Italy, including performances in Lake Como, Serremaggiore, Valdarno, Viterbo and Perugia.  Their CD "Swing Swing Swing with the Bradley Jazz
Ensemble" is available at the Bradley Bookstore, Barnes and Noble, Kidder Music and online at www.cdbaby.com.

The Jazz Lab Band will perform "Spain," "The Groove Merchant," "Blues and BBQ'd Ribs" and "Louisiana Hot Sauce."

Dr. Kelly, associate professor of music, directs the Bradley Jazz bands and Jazz Combo, teaches studio trumpet and serves as the advisor for the music business program.  He is in demand throughout the Midwest as a soloist and clinician.

Tickets are available at the door for $5, and admission is free for students.
