Intro to Digital Fundamentals

Community Workshop
Lead by Melissa Reamer, Collections Care and Management Specialist

This 5 hour workshop will cover the basics of photographic preservation by introducing participants to the methods and materials, storage requirements, digitization techniques, and other factors related to caring for vintage and contemporary photographic materials, including family photographs.

Using 20 photographs from their own collection, participants will learn and practice the best scanning methods for digital preservation, be introduced to digital asset management concepts, and practice basic restoration and retouching techniques using Adobe Photoshop. More advanced workshops will follow in spring 2011.

Unless noted otherwise, all museum exhibitions, events and films are presented at the Southeast Museum of Photography which is located on the Daytona Beach campus of Daytona State College at 1200 International Speedway Blvd, three miles east of 1-95.
