Museum of Arts and Design Press Releases
Jane Korman From Jane Korman

New York, NY (December 13, 2010) The Museum of Arts and Design will mark the release of collector and designer Jane Korman's new book Splendid Settings: The Art + Craft of Entertaining with an in-person book signing by the author at The Store from 5–7 pm on December 13, 2010.

Splendid Settings: The Art + Craft of Entertaining is a lovingly-curated volume of table presentations by Jane Korman for a variety of parties, shown along with her enviable collections of contemporary art, craft and design. It features 200 color photographs, along with 16 menus and 69 original recipes. A celebration of the author's love of art, dining, and design—and a personal story that combines the worlds of cooking and the arts, Splendid Settings: The Art + Craft of Entertaining is a journey through four seasons of dining in the Korman homes in the Pennsylvania countryside, the New Jersey coast, and Florida.

"Jane Korman is an extraordinary woman whose friendship, talents, and intelligence are cherished and admired by her many friends and guests," says MAD's Chief Curator David Revere McFadden. "Through this book, she invites a larger audience to become part of her world of art, food, and entertaining."

Jane Korman serves on numerous boards including the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania, the Fabric Workshop and Museum, the National Museum of American Jewish History and the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Modern and Contemporary Art Committee. In 1977, Korman co-founded the Sign of the Swan gallery in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, which then later became the Swan Gallery in Philadelphia, an enterprise she guided until 1989. Mrs. Korman has also served as a juror for numerous craft shows, including American Craft Enterprises and the Delaware State Arts Exhibition. She has also served as a panelist and guest lecturer for the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the University of the Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, and the Friends of the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Collecting Twentieth-Century Art.
