CHICAGO! Get your boots on, it’s time for threewalls annual Holiday Ball, and this year we are excited to hand over the reigns to Academy Records for a holiday variety show! Please join us December 18th for an evening of entertainment, yuletide merriment, and White Christmas-ing as threewalls is transformed into the Columbia Inn from Michael Curtiz’s great holiday classic White Christmas.
Chicago entertainers will run through a dystopic and disparate reading of those famous Irving Berlin tunes that are featured in the movie. Participating artists include: Academy Records; Mrs. Hound; Weeping Eye, Laughing Eye; Turnip Pickle (featuring: Fred Lonberg-Holm, Elba Mini-Pro, Captain One and Gordon Comstock); Mark Jeffrey and Judd Morrisey; Dan “Son of Bing” Gleason, plus a host of others. Close out the night with DJ Mr. Wiggles and a hot toddy!
Post War Blues? Neighborly help? The Blind Set-up? Choreography? Anorexia?
It’s all fun and games in this Christmas classic re-envisioned by Academy Records!
Attire: 1940’s style supper-club-holiday-party-garb.
threewalls was founded in 2003 to provide greater support and visibility for the visual arts community in Chicago. The founders wanted to encourage a greter awareness of Chicago’s art scene by inviting emerging professional artists to Chicago to share in the city’s rich histories, resources and creative communities. In an effort to provide meaningful support to emerging artists, curators and writers, threewalls has worked to form a sustainable organization that provides exhibition space & support, residency opportunities and artist fees to both visiting artists through the residency fellowship and to regional artistis through the SOLO program.
Today, threewalls continues to operate a curated residency program, a juried solo exhibition program, public programs that include artist talks, salons, publications, reading groups, symposiums and mini-conferences, as well as being partner to Gallery 400 in the re-granting program, The Propeller Fund. In 2011 we will launch Chicago’s first “CSA” subscription program: Chicago Community Supported Art. Help support one of Chicago’s leading visual arts programs and resources by attending our annual Holiday Ball. Your support will help sustain a vital organization that is dedicated to supporting the arts. www.three-walls.org
