Annual Fund 2010

Dear Friend, As 2010 draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. This has been a great year for us and we couldn’t have done it without you! Your attendance, membership, and donations helped us not just maintain but expand the number and quality of the programs we offered. Here are just a few of the highlights from 2010: We produced 7 exhibitions of which 2 were group shows, 4 were solo shows, 8 local artists were featured, and one exhibition catalogue was published. We commissioned 3 new large-scale, site-specific works. We launched Contemporary Talks, a high profile lecture series featuring major thinkers and doers in arts and culture from around the U.S. We inaugurated the Nexus Award honoring individuals who have made a profound contribution to contemporary visual art and culture in Atlanta. We provided studio space, exhibition opportunities, and two Open Studio events for the 14 artists in our Studio Artist Program. We grew our membership by 60% and our recent membership challenge was so successful it exceeded our goal by 100%. We collaborated with numerous organizations including: Atlanta Film Festival 365, the Atlanta Humane Society, Hammonds House Museum, Savannah College of Art and Design Atlanta, High Museum of Art, Woodruff Arts Center, and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. The coming year promises to be just as great, if not better, but we can’t do it without you. Our challenge is to balance the ambitions of our exhibitions and educational programs with economic realities. You can help us define those economic realities.
