Presented as a multi-screen installation, Between You and Me is a kaleidoscopic view of small single moments that seem to be happening just before or just after the dramatic moments. The film follows six characters as their paths intersect and are connected by the objects they carry—objects that help to define them. These characters inhabit the vestigial spaces of personal interaction in an "online" world, and the strain in the interactions is palpable. These interactions are daily occurrences, repeatable cycles: the ebb and flow of library shelves, the constant stream of letters in a post office or coffee in a diner, a pattern of failed relationships. These are the things that happen daily and accumulate. Between You and Me, a five-screen video projection, was presented at Flux 2010 in Atlanta. Each of the five projections was 80 x 140 feet, and together they covered the entire facade of the Norfolk Southern Building. Their body of work ranges from fibers, sculpture, painting and drawing, to single and multi-channel film and video works, and installations. The work often explores ideas of family history, narrative traditions, and binary relationships that pull from contemporary issues influenced and informed by environment and location. The Stansells' work has been reviewed in numerous publications including Art in America, Moviemaker Magazine, FiberARTS Magazine, and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Exhibiting in galleries, museums, contemporary art centers, and film festivals, the Stansells' work has been experienced in cities around the world including Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Vienna, and Beijing, and can be found in the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, Cornell University, and SCAD-Atlanta and Hong Kong. about flux projects Flux Projects supports artists in creating innovative temporary public art throughout Atlanta.
