Season's Greetings from Cain Schulte Contemporary Art! We wish all of our clients, artists, and friends a warm holiday season and a Happy New Year.

We have a number of fabulous events to celebrate the season and the New Year. Please join us for the festivities listed below!

We also have extended our hours for the holiday shopping season. Through December 23, we will be open Monday through Saturday, 10-6. On December 24, we will close at 2:00 PM. From December 27-December 30, we will be open by appointment only. We will reopen with our regular hours on Tuesday, January 4.

BAIA Winter Mixer

BAIA, the Business Association Italy America, will hold their Winter Mixer at Cain Schulte | SF. The BAIA Winter Mixer 2010 is a great opportunity to mix and mingle with young and seasoned professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and all the extended BAIA community, while enjoying wine and delicious appetizers. Achenbach at Cain Schulte
Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM

The acclaimed Achenbach Graphic Arts Council will hold a walk-through event of our current show Magna Carta - Art/Paper at Cain Schulte | SF on Saturday, January 8, with curator Marina Cain. A number of the featured artists will also be present. The Achenbach Foundation is part of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and is responsible for the museums' collections of works on paper, including the de Young Museum and the Legion of Honor. The event is free and open to the public.

Magna Carta - Art/Paper

Continues through January 15, 2011

Magna Carta, features 20 acclaimed and emerging artists who all work on paper. The works in this exhibition explore the Magna Carta's ideals while focusing on contemporary issues. The show was selected by SFMOMA's Pickpocket Almanack for their Fall 2010 course.

Lars Theuerkauff: One
Acrylic paintings
January 28 - February 19, 2011

Berlin artist Lars Theuerkauff's first exhibition in the United States is a solo show that will include paintings from several series he has worked on in the past year: the "L'Origine du Monde" suite (a male version of Gustave Courbet's ground-breaking painting of the same title), the "Anonym" series, as well as the most recent "Islands" series. The title "One" references several things at once: a first exhibition in an American gallery, a solo show, as well as the number of subjects in each of his paintings - a single human being in each canvas. The singular figure in Theuerkauff's oeuvre is a repeated element which, together with the nudeness of the subject, provides a window on the visual vocabulary of intimacy and the link between classical homo-eroticism and contemporary art.
