IMAGE-MOUVEMENT (I-M) est une nouvelle plateforme de réflexion et d’expérimentation intégrée au cœur de la programmation du Centre d’Art Contemporain; son objectif est d’explorer le monde de l’image en mouvement et son impact sur la culture contemporaine. Pour son premier acte, IMAGE-MOUVEMENT parcourt l’image en mouvement sous ses multiples formes, le cinéma, la vidéo, l’installation et la performance, avec deux manifestations majeures: une exposition ouverte jusqu’à mi-février 2011 et un forum intensif de quatre jours et nuits. Le forum, ouvert au grand public comme aux spécialistes, comprend trois jours de discussions / performance avec des artistes et des collectifs du monde entier; trois cycles de projections; deux projets de médiation; un salon avec une programmation musicale jusqu’aux premières heures du jour; et un projet d’art public invitant chacun à expérimenter la réalisation d’un film dans les rues de Genève. Truths, Details, Intervals and the Afterlives of the Image (9.12.2010 — 13.02.2011) présente treize œuvres d’artistes suisses et internationaux, dont le travail bouscule la notion d’image en mouvement comme cristallisation de la vérité. En utilisant des images dérivées du réel, de la fiction, du documentaire ou du matériel biographique, ils spéculent et déstabilisent, structurent et reconfigurent l’image en mouvement. Ni historiques, ni non historiques, leurs pratiques émergent dans un espace parallèle, né du débat critique entourant le cinéma vérité, la télévision, le documentaire, l’archive, les théories postcoloniales et l’essai vidéo. Moving images are everywhere, floating like restless ghosts in the various spaces of our lives. IMAGE-MOUVEMENT (I-M) is a new platform of thought and experimentation, created at the heart of the Centre d’Art Contemporain’s programme, in order to research the characteristics of this terrain and its impact on contemporary culture. In its first act, IMAGE-MOUVEMENT explores the expanded nature of the moving image, through the presentation of film, video, installation and performance. It features two major sections: an innovative exhibition open until mid February 2011, and a 4–day-and- night forum of dynamic events. The forum includes 3-days of filmed, performative-discussions with artists collectives from around the world, open to the public and to specialists alike; three screening cycles; two mediation projects; a convivial salon with nightly music events; and a public arts project testing the frontiers of film- making in the streets of Geneva. The exhibition Atlas. Truths, Details, Intervals and the Afterlives of the Image (9.12.2010 — 13.02.2011) shows thirteen works of Swiss and international artists whose art pieces challenge the notion of the image as a specific product, a crystallization of truth. By adopting images deriving from real, fictive, documentary and biographic material, they speculate and destabilise, structure and reconfigure the moving image. Their practices are neither history nor non history but emerge in a parallel space, born out of the critical debate surrounding cinema vérité, televisual culture, the documentary, the archive, post- colonial theory and the video essay.
