Art News:

Today's print edition of the New York Times gives me a shout-out as a "silky downtown impresario." (for full story go here). To find out about the origin of that moniker, might I reccomend checking out my new variety show JACK THE RIPPER'S HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR.

In 1891 JACK THE RIPPER is said to have spent some time in New York City, where he plied his trade on at least one Bowery streetwalker. Please join us for the Bowery saloon Chrismas music hall he MIGHT have hosted, if he had looked and acted sort of more like FAGIN starring in LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT as played by a DOWNTOWN IMPRESARIO. Joining JACK S.D. will be:

*
THE BLEEDIN' TARTS --  a kick line of undead prostitute can-can girls choreographed by BUFFALO BECKY BYERS and featuring the stockinged legs of Miss Byers, Shiloh Klein, Erin Posanti, Stephanie Willing, and Candace Yoshioka. Costumes by Ms. Klein.

* piano man
ALBERT GARZON (of Ixion Burlesque) whose repertoire stretches across the centuries and encompasses the high and low! There's nothing his fingers can't do! Also:

* country duo THE TALL PINES, playing their new tune CHRISTMAS MORNING COMIN' DOWN, co-written by the one and only ADAM MCGOVERN!!! These good lookin' young 'uns have played all over hither and yon, and their 2007 debut album was named one of the Ten Best of the Year by NPR! We're thrilled to have 'em!

* contortionist THE AMAZING AMY .
I've seen her many a time with the Bindlestiff Open Variety Night and I swear she has no bones!

* sideshow/burlesque performer FOXXX TROT escaping from a Christmas present and doing unspeakable things with a candy cane

* music hall chanteuse
LORINNE LAMPERT singing a Christmassy and yet risque double entendre song

* and
SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS a special holiday radio play featuring our company of dulcet-toned comic thespians, including Mr. S.D., Ms. Lampert, JUSTIN HOLCOMB, JAMES ISAAC, DOUGLAS MACKRELL, and MICHAEL CRISCUOLO!
