We are delighted to announce the addition of Berlin based artist Gavin Tremlett to the CHARLIE SMITH london stable.

Born in 1977, Tremlett obtained a first class BA (Hons) at Loughborough University School of Art & Design before going on to the Royal Academy Schools in London between 2001 and 2004.

Since then he has exhibited internationally including London, Berlin, Los Angeles, Milan, Prague and Helsinki, and is represented in Berlin by Wohnmaschine.

Tremlett's work is placed in leading private collections throughout Europe.

Gavin Tremlett is a perfect addition to the gallery. I first saw his work in a group show in Whitechapel several years ago and was hypnotised by these peculiar oversized nudes. Some time afterwards I learned that Tremlett had gone through his BA and MA with our very own Gavin Nolan, forming a formidable duo. The central tenets of Tremlett's work - beauty, perversity, technical prowess, psychological intensity and his recourse to the art historical - all typify the CHARLIE SMITH london aesthetic.
