Richard Phillips is a master of his craft. Known for his remarkable large-scale hyper-realistic paintings, Phillips often references pop culture in his work, whether it be 1960s fashion advertising or the distressed starlet Lindsay Lohan at trial. He is represented by the world's top galleries and is collected by important institutions such as MoMA in New York and the Tate Modern in London.
His Exhibition A print, Der Bodensee, depicts a "beauty shot" of a Czech model appropriated from a vintage erotic magazine. The print is so striking that it prompted Phillips to remark, "I couldn't have painted it better myself!"
