Winter 2010

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Mobius enters its thirty-fourth year in 2011. Many art organizations have come and gone over those years, yet Mobius has survived.  Your continued support has been instrumental, both in-person and in contributions, and we cannot thank you enough.

In 2010, we doubled the size of our Mobius Artists Group, leading to an increase in programming, visibility, and community that without your attendance and support would not have occurred. We were also able to mount our enormous art-party event, ArtRages, in its largest manifestation ever, with over 110 artists and volunteers participating.

When you receive our emails and look at our website, you will likely notice a lot of activity in other cities, countries, and locations. Continuing to expand the artistic breadth of our work and widening our sense of community, artist-to-audience, is paramount to our mission.

Here at our space, we are the only venue in Boston that regularly offers an intimate, up-close experience with new, live works. The loop between artist and audience, and the dialogues that follow, are crucial to our success and survival. In that vein, we will invite Friends of Mobius, donors of $75 or more, to a special reception held in their honor. We appreciate seeing you often and like to get to know you too. This is in addition to the discounts that Friends of Mobius receive on every box office event.

With funding for experimental arts disappearing, Mobius has had to rely more and more on the Artists Group for volunteer tasks and financial contributions. Mobius needs everyone in its sphere to contribute to its success. That is why we are appealing to you to continue to support Mobius. We cannot do it without you. We hope you enjoy our 2011 programming, and we appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Blaise Freeman, President, Mobius Board of Directors
Jed Speare, Director

P.S. You can also contribute online at http://www.mobius.org, where you'll also find mobius events and news!  Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

About Mobius:
Mobius (est. 1977) is a non-profit, artist-run organization, whose mission is to generate, shape and test experimental art. The members of the organization believe an effective strategy for supporting this art is to establish grounds that build relationships among fellow artists.  Mobius is committed to structuring environments that foster projects incorporating a wide range of disciplines.  This approach sets in motion situations where the artist's impact can be seen locally, nationally and internationally.  Constructing art initiatives outside accepted frameworks and encouraging animated discourse with the public are fundamental to Mobius.

Founded by Marilyn Arsem in 1977, Mobius is known for incorporating a wide range of the visual, performing, and media arts into innovative live performance, video, installation and intermedia works. Mobius has produced hundreds of original works that have attained critical acclaim in Boston, nationally and internationally. Works created at Mobius have been presented throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.
