      Whodunnit Holiday Tree Show


          December 16, 2010

TNG invites you to our annual /Whoddunnit Holiday Tree Show/, showcasing 
one of a kind, artist-made gifts and ornaments. All works are shown 
anonymously until sold. Ornaments $25. Holiday gifts retailed at $50 or 
$100.

Admission to the opening party is free to members and invited guests, 
$10 memberships available at the door.

The show kicks off with an opening party full of holiday treats, music 
and of course shopping on *Thursday, December 16, from 8 PM - 11 PM*. 
The sale continues the following day, *Friday, December 17 from 11 AM - 
5 PM*.

/Then + Then Again -- Practices within an artist-run culture, 1969-2006/ 
is an archival retrospective exhibition curated by media artist and 
artist-run centre pioneer and theorist, Clive Robertson.

The New Gallery is pleased to host a +15 reception of /P R E T T Y   V A 
C A N T/ on *Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 7 PM*.

/P R E T T Y   V A C A N T/ encapsulates Normoyle's current 
preoccupation with "shopping, flirting with objects, idle wandering and 
all the permutations of these" (Walter Benjamin). Emptied of customers, 
owners and security she photographs empty commercial interiors without 
fear or reprimand. Pressing the camera against the thick pane, the glass 
of the storefront becomes the lens of the camera; a membrane through 
which the aesthetic and commercial values osmotically exchange.
