Lawrence Gallery’s Sheridan location is featuring Yiqian Shu's new work through the month of December.

Born in Shanghai, China, in 1941, Shu and his family now reside in Oregon, United States, where the lush valley and verdant forests remind him of his native homeland. Created with acrylic on canvas and acrylic on rice paper, the entrancing paintings of Yiqian Shu have a dreamlike quality. By presenting the beauty and serenity he finds in nature, he reveals its spirituality.

Yiqian Shu is member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. His art has appeared in a number of books and magazines. Shu's work is included in the collections of prestigious museums as well as private and corporate collectors. During a professional career that has spanned near a half century, Shu has garnered numerous honors and awards. He is listed in the “Who’s Who of Contemporary Chinese Artists” (1990) and “The Album of Contemporary Chinese Artists” (1992). In 1998, he was awarded the silver prize in the World Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Competition in Beijing. In 2001, he was honored by the Oregon State Art Committee to the Exhibition of Yiqian Shu Excellent Art Achievements at the Oregon Governor’s Mansion.

Yiqian Shu's artwork has been exhibited in Bulgaria, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan. In 2004, Shu is listed in the archive of Tate Museum in London, the United Kingdom. In 2009, he received the “Rising Star of the Galaxy” award in the 19th “Best of America” National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society annual membership art exhibition. On January 4, 2010, he was honored Outstanding Chinese Achievement Award at Chinese Business Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada.
