Art News:

Stay Close in the New Year
Dear friends,

Apologies in advance--the following's arising from a bit of a tryptophan-ically induced reverie. But it doesn't make it any less sincere when I say...

... Thank you for being a friend of Town Hall. You're on this e-mail list because at some point you told us you wanted to stay in touch, and whether you've attended just a few events or you're a dyed-in-the-wool Townie, whether you're drawn by politics or literature, music or science or all of the above, thanks sincerely for being a part of our extended community.

In 2010 our friends numbered over 100,000 folks from across the region, at 350 events from the across the spectrum of ideas, creativity and culture; our friends voted by the tens of thousands for the chance to win a major award to help refurbish our building (and pulled it off!); our friends became members in record numbers, allowing us to strengthen our program AND continue to offer our events at the lowest possible ticket prices, even in a challenging economic climate. In short, our friends give flesh and blood and heart and mind to our vision of Town Hall as place that builds community, by bringing people closer to authors, artists, ideas, to each other.

If Town Hall brings you closer to your community here in Puget Sound I hope you’ll consider a membership before year's end. (And if you're already a member--thank you!--why not tell somebody else how much you love this place?). You hear me say it every time you come to an event here: beyond the concrete stuff like discounts and preferred seating, membership is really about 2500 people come together annually to make this program possible for the WHOLE region. If you believe in what we do, the best way to ensure we stay strong in the new year is to become a member.

The new year will bring new energy to Town Hall: brand new series', including one devoted solely to community-produced work; a new gathering space, our lobby-level ‘Public Room’; and a new website, designed to make it easier to connect to the people behind our events, before and after live events here. If you're excited about another year at Town Hall, go here to make a contribution, or call our office at 206.652.4255, ext. 0, Monday through Wednesday--ask for Sheila or Sean. We'll be taking Thursday 30 and Friday 31 off for a very deserved break, as we gear up for another year together.
