EXHIBITS CLOSING SUNDAY

La Serenissima: Eighteenth-Century Venetians Paintings from North American Collections and Jonathan Hils: INTERSECTION, the second installment through the Museum's NEW FRONTIERS: Series for Contemporary Art will come to a close this Sunday.
GALLERY
Originated by OKCMOA, La Serenissima brought together approximately 65 works from more than 25 collections. Together, these works cover eighteenth-century Venetian art in the age of the Grand Tour and through the decline of the Republic, brought about by Napoleon's invasion of Italy in the last decade of the century.

INTERSECTION has exhibited a selection of large-scale, hand-wrought automobiles by artist Jonathan Hils. These Jilssteel and aluminum sculptures express the artist's interest in the American phenomena of oversized vehicles and society's relationship with them. Hils' sculpture investigates the place where identity and the mythology of things intersect.

FILMS

Farinellifern
Thursday, December 30, 7:30pm
In the 18th century, no man was more famous, more beloved, or more celebrated than the man called Farinelli. This Oscar nominated true story of one of the greatest castrato opera singers comes brilliantly to life in a sumptuous and sexy drama. With all the charisma, talent, drive and success of a modern-day rock star, Farinelli had everything: money, talent, fame, women... and the voice of an angel. The castrato voice heard in the movie is an electronic mixture of counter-tenor Derek Lee Ragin and soprano Ewa Malas-Godlewska. In French and Italian with English subtitles. Director: Gérard Corbiau 1994 Belgium/France/Italy/USA 111min. R 35mm. Trailer.

8 ½fellini
Sunday, January 2, 2pm
Federico Fellini's surreal self portrait mingles reality and fantasy to push the cinema to its utmost potential. Fellini deals with the very process of creation, with all the anguish, despair, joy, self-doubt and triumph which are part of the process. Guido Anselmi (Marcello Mastroianni), a successful film director committed to an ambitious new production, finds himself creatively barren at the peak of his career. Exhausted, hounded by both his wife (Anouk Aimée) and mistress (Claudia Cardinale), he escapes into his personal fantasies. The result is the recognition that his future work must come from his life's experiences. In Italian/English/French/German with English subtitles.  Director: Federico Fellini 1963 Italy/France 138min. NR 35mm. Trailer.
