Dylan Margolis aka “Tiny Tim” and his wonderful experience in A Christmas Carol

If you caught A Christmas Carol this year, you probably saw the adorable six-year-old Dylan Margolis as Tiny Tim.  Dylan’s proud older brother, Jackson, was Tiny Tim with us three years ago.  According to Mom Kristin, Jackson was incredibly supportive and excited for his brother from the beginning, knowing first hand what an amazing experience it would be for him.

“The learning experience is huge,” says Kristin, who remarked that STC provides a “unique” space for young actors to work with professional actors and experience the responsibilities and rewards of professional theatre.

For Dylan, it was a learning experience in a variety of ways—not only was he able to learn the craft through working with wonderful actors such as Matt K. Miller and Gillen Morrison, but it also served as a perfect forum for improving his confidence.  He tends to be shy in school, says Kristin, but Sacramento Theatre Company provided a comforting, supportive environment and a “sense of home” that helped him come out of his shell.

Kristin says that STC “brings out the best” in her children because it makes them happy, allowing them to learn and grow.

This is just one example of the many ways that Sacramento Theatre Company touches lives of children in our community.  We strive to create an environment in our School of the Arts that is both nurturing and supportive, but also a genuine professional experience.  Dylan’s story tells us that we’re doing something right!  Our educational programs and our theatrical productions go hand in hand, making Sacramento Theatre Company a special asset to the region.

A contribution to Sacramento Theatre Company truly is an investment in the future artists of our community, making a positive impact on so many individuals.  Please consider making a tax-deductable donation online today (there are only a few days left in 2010!).
