Dear Arts Enthusiast,
Season's Greetings from Los Angeles Art Association and Gallery 825! As you know, this current climate of diminishing resources and economic uncertainty has greatly distressed all demographics and constituencies, but few have been impacted as much as artists and the not-for-profit sector. Los Angeles Art Association (LAAA) has experienced challenging times before and during the course of our 85 + year existence as a 501(c) (3) non-profit arts organization, but we are proud that we have never lost sight of one non-negotiable principle: supporting the arts means supporting the artists. We are contacting you during this holiday season to ask for your support as we launch our 86th year of championing, nurturing and developing our region's emerging artists. To make a tax-deductible contribution, please
. If you donate online by January 31, 2011, you will be entered into a drawing to win an original piece of emerging artwork by an LAAA artist.
I know that you are aware of the pivotal role that LAAA has played in the formation of Los Angeles's arts community and of our ongoing commitment to providing emerging artists with the experience, education and exposure needed to create and sustain careers in the arts.
Your support will help us sustain:
· Ongoing group and solo exhibitions featuring emerging artists.
· Public art opportunities for emerging artists.
· LAAA Artist Sponsorships for economically disadvantaged artists.
· Mentoring opportunities pairing young artists with established artists and renowned thinkers.
· Ongoing career-preparedness and workplace-readiness workshops for artists.
· Panel discussions with celebrated artists and art professionals.
· Film & Video 825: ongoing screenings of nationally-recognized video artists.
· Peer Review Groups: ongoing artist-driven peer critique groups.
· Public Art Classes: ongoing studio art classes for beginners and maturing artists.
· Ongoing international and cultural exchange opportunities for local artists.
The success and expanded services we provide to local artists and art advocates address important needs not confronted by most civic and cultural agencies. If you believe that artists are the drivers of content, cultural, and social change - if you believe that artists can, and do make lasting impacts on the cultural and economic life of our shared community, then please help us continue this important work. Giving to an arts organization that actually serves artists is one way to ensure that our local artists reach their full potential. Please visit our
secure donation form and take the first step to help an artist change their life forever and enter your chance to win original art by an important emerging artist.
