Mathis of Mathis Arts Gallery, Racine, presents a program: Rembrandt:
The Master Etcher at 2 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 23 in the Daimler Chrysler Hall at the Kenosha Public
Museum. Mathis loaned 30 etchings from his private collection to
create an exhibit, Rembrandt: States, Fakes, and Restrikes,
on display in
the museum's South Gallery through Feb. 27. The exhibit includes
first states pulls, various restrike editions from the 17th century
on, pieces from the Millennium Edition of the late 20th century, and
copies of Rembrandt etchings made by other artists from the 18th
through 19th centuries.
Mathis will recount
Rembrandt's life and how it relates to his etchings. Following his
formal presentation, Mathis will offer a gallery talk in the exhibit.
This presentation is free and open to the public.
