PREVIEW PARTY TONIGHT
See up close this 7 ft. x 11 ft. tapestry woven from unraveled sweaters from local thrift shops. Sola worked in almost complete seclusion for over 8000 hours in 3 years in a tiny, sparse apartment near the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Venturing out only to make notes from rooftops and to collect more wool for the weeks work on the tapestry, she says “If I can touch yarn for 10 hours a day then I am in absolute heaven and I want to do it for as long as I live.”
She is a former concert promoter, beauty queen and savvy businesswoman. In her ripe but not believable late 70's she rejects all of these past pursuits for a life of charity and travel. Sola has traveled to Olympic cities since the 1980's weaving her way on to the next tapestry after selling it and donating to charity whatever she doesn't need to get her to the next destination.
