Art at Lunch: Rehoboth Art League Expansion Debate: Where do we go from here?

Controversy surrounds the Rehoboth Art League in its pursuit to modernize its facilities and enlarge its base of community support. Residents of Henlopen Acres have opposed any form of expansion and have created a cultural debate reminiscent of Philadelphia's Barnes Foundation. Sheila Bravo, Director of the Rehoboth Art League, will discuss the major issues of this debate. Ticket price includes lunch. This program is partially funded by a grant from the Delaware Humanities Forum, a state program of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The Deadline is Sunday! Entries for Biggs Picture: Landscapes by Regional Artists, are coming in quickly! Don't miss your opportunity to submit you application for the second juried landscape art competition by Sunday, January 16, 2011. The selected works from the competition will be showcased in a spring 2011 exhibition at the Museum! The competition will be juried by Catherine Drabkin, artist and founding faculty member of the Delaware College of Art and Design, and Robert J. Koenke, Editor-in-Chief at Wildlife Art magazine. On "best in show" work will be chosen for a $1,500 purchase prize to be added to the Museum's Permanent Collection. Visit our web-site for more information and to apply online.

Some Important Dates to Save this Spring!

There are going to be hardly any weeks this spring that you will not want to spend at the Biggs Museum! Between the Biggs Picture exhibition, the second lineup of Art a la Carte workshops and special fundraisers, there is something for everyone! Member should save Sunday, March 20 for the second annual Member Appreciation Brunch. On Sunday, April 10th, join us for the Hair Affair. Enjoy a live "hair" show featuring artistic and wild stylings by local hair salons. You, the guest, will help the judges decide who is the top salon in town! On Thursday, May 12, head over to Maple Dale with us for the first annual Biggs Museum Golf Tournament. Enjoy a morning of golf and a pig roast lunch!
