Patterson-Carver is a self-taught artist, born in Chicago in 1958, and currently
living in Northern California. Inspired by childhood exposure to the civil
rights movement, he has been a lifelong activist and considers himself a
political refugee. In the past two years, Patterson-Carver has exhibited widely,
including solo exhibitions at Timothy Taylor Gallery, London; Galerie Laurent
Godin, Paris; Sorry Were Closed, Brussels; and White Columns, New York. A
monograph of his work was recently published by Four Corners Books in London,
and the US launch of the publication will take place at White Columns on March
5, 2011. This is his second solo exhibition at the
gallery.
