Paint n Italy…2011

345 East 56th Street  Suite 6H  New York,  NY 10022                Creative painting workshops and art adventures since 1984

            “I can’t draw a straight line and I never painted before…”

Rather than simply admiring beautiful Italian landscape paintings in local museums, why not make

your own art?  “I feel I’m artistic but I can’t draw a straight line,” said one of the students before the first

painting lesson. Since we know artists use rulers and even the most experienced are plagued with

uncertainties, let’s start from here. Do you love to travel? Want to visit north Italy’s most picturesque villages

while learning the secrets of the painting process? And, if you are an art student or a professional artist, you’ll

work in an environment, equal to none.

“Sweet vision, do not fade away” poet Longfellow said. So emotional is the encounter of

Lake Como for the first time. Surrounded by majestic mountains, flowers, lake views, boat scenes, and ancient

villas, an atmosphere so beautiful it will awaken any person’s hidden creative nature. The selected hotel, home

for 11 days, is set in the midst of this splendor and offers American convenience, coupled with perfect Italian

hospitality and service. Participants live in accommodations facing the lake, including a private bath, balcony

or terrace, air conditioning, maid service, television, phone with complete daily breakfast and 4-course

gourmet dinner, free art supplies and land transfers from/to Milan ’s Malpensa airport/ hotel and the en plein

aire painting sites.

Paint in Italy… was founded in 1984: the culmination of New York painter, Diana Willis’

longtime vision of organizing workshops in Italy where artists (and artists-in-learning) could enjoy

uninterrupted, art-inspired time. Willis, who has been painting and teaching for more than thirty years in

NYC and Italy has invited portrait painter & tromple l’oeil muralist Mario Tucci and renown artist/children’s

book author and illustrator Roxie Munro to join her in Italy this summer.
