I have a photography show “The River” opening this Friday-January 14, with a vernisage happening the following Thursday evening-January 20, 6 to 8 pm (Centrepointe Theatre Gallery). ARTIST STATEMENT

Since moving to this area, I have been photographing along the Ottawa river, going out in various seasons and conditions, with the intention of capturing the vistas, the details, the atmosphere and especially the sense of light. The use of black and white simplifies the forms, shapes and textures bringing attention to the quality of light. 
What I am trying to convey is a feeling of connection-- a feeling of being imersed and absorbed in the environment and subject. While the primary focus is on natural elements, signs of civilization can often be found somewhere in the photograph.
