ScrapArtsMusic, the inventive group that combines athletic choreography with intricate rhythms played on more than 145 one-of-a-kind percussive instruments fashioned from such recycled materials as industrial scrap and artillery shells, performs at Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 12.

Tickets, priced at $35 for adults, $20 for youths 17 and under, and $10 for full-time Pepperdine students, are available now by calling (310) 506-4522. Tickets are also available through Ticketmaster at (800) 982-2787. Information online: http://arts.pepperdine.edu/ or http://www.scrapartsmusic.com/

ScrapArtsMusic is a Canadian quintet that tours the world, transforming stages into eco-friendly musical realms vibrant with ingenious creativity and positive energy. Led by composer-percussionist Gregory Kozak, an inspired instrument inventor and 21st-century Renaissance man, ScrapArtsMusic performs original, beat-driven music. The band recently performed during the 2010 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremonies televised around the world.

Each musical instrument is hand-built from recycled materials. These beautiful sculptures produce unique sounds for which special performance techniques are developed, giving life to fresh, original compositions with wide-ranging appeal.

Audiences from four continents have welcomed ScrapArtsMusic with unbridled enthusiasm, embracing its intoxicating mix of music, movement, and spectacle. Transcending language, culture, and age, ScrapArtsMusic offers a highly physical, wildly theatrical, and thoroughly entertaining taste of the musical vanguard.
