work.lab 2011 is training advanced laboratories and production, produced and promoted by the cultural association aritmia, by Lelio Aiello, in déjà.vu, a project born in Bologna, which has taken place over the past four years. This search involves international artists, students, public place, through a network of wider collaboration. This year the project will involve two prestigious structures in Florence: Villa Romana and Marino Marini Museum.
The German artist, Thomas Kilpper, held in June, in Florence, two-weeks’s laboratory aimed to young artist and art’s student, to enhance the creativity of young artists and their ability to interact with the territory. The attention to the daily life a nd its spatial and social implications is what characterizes the project “work.lab “ from its debut, with the invitation to artists to work on the city’s elements and it’s social and relational dynamics.
The Laboratory's results will be presented in the Marino Marini Museum, in
Florence.
Thomas Kilpper, residing in Berlin, he is one of the winners of “ Villa Romana 2011 “ premium. Invited to the next Venice Biennale, he’s known for his work involved in specific social and political contexts. His Works have been exhibited in prestigious areas, as the same Villa Romana in Florence, South London Gallery, the Generali Foundation in Vienna, Kuns Thall Schirn Frankfurt and the Badischer Kunstverein in Karlsruhe, the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein.
Villa Romana acts as a forum for contemporary art, creating a dialogue with the local reality and promoting cooperative relationship with desirable partners. It establishing, each year, an international award for young artists that concretized into a residence for one year.
The Marino Marini Museum is a foundation that purpose to ensure the conservation, the protection, the development, the exposure to the public of the Marino Marini’s works. It promotes cultural events and exposures dedicated to artists and themes from the twentieth century to the contemporary.
