Hosted by Kat von D, (of TLC's LA Ink) the Opening Night Premiere Party will kick off with a VIP Patron Reception and special welcome for Los Angeles Art Show featured exhibit China Today. The Patron Reception will include Lion Dancers, traditional drum performance, Chinese acrobats, and a Chinese 'Face Changing' performer. Patron Reception to include remarks from Mayor Villaraigosa, Chinese Consul General Qiu Shaofang, Councilman Tom LaBonge, Olga Garay, Executive Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs, David Bomford, Associate Director with The Getty and Jennifer Howell, Founder of The Art of Elysium. The evening features Cirque du Soleil artists in IRIS-themed costumes, a book signing by noted feminist author, Judy Chicago and live silk-screen performance by artist Russell Young that will be available for purchase. Young will also debut his new series of works titled 'Death of a Disco Dancer' at the Opening Night Premiere Party. Live Street Art Performances by legendary artists Andrew Hem, Shark Toof, and Edward Walton Wilcox will take place throughout the Los Angeles Art Show. Working on large-scale canvases, the artists will begin their work on January 19th and will paint live each day from noon until 6:00 p.m. with completion of the pieces on Sunday, January 23rd at 2:00pm.
