hello traver family!
Happy New Year!
We hope that this finds you and your families enjoying a happy and prosperous beginning to the year.
2011 promises to be an exciting year at Traver Gallery. As always, we look forward to a series of extraordinary exhibitions, and to sharing those shows with you, our supporters and friends.
With the new year also comes change - beginning this year, we're changing our exhibition schedule, lengthening our shows from one month to six weeks. We believe this will be a positive change, giving all of us more time to enjoy and learn about each artist's work. Though our schedule for openings will change, we will still be open for Seattle's First Thursday Art Walk. You can access our complete 2011 schedule on our website by following this link.
We are very pleased to announce our new relationship with two great artists, Harry Pollit and Paul Stankard. Harry Pollit has worked as a wood sculptor for 40 years and recently has started to create his fluid sculptural forms in cast crystal. The result is an exciting new body of luminous, graceful sculptures. We hope you'll take a few moments to look at this new work by following this link. Paul Stankard, as many of you know, is renowned throughout the world for his intensely intricate and beautiful works in hot sculpted glass. We're excited to be representing his work and look forward to his solo exhibition in our Tacoma gallery in November.
For those of you in the Los Angeles area, the de la Torre brothers will be doing a lecture at the Getty Villa this Saturday the 22nd. Einar and Jamex will expound upon their approach to reinterpreting the classics of Mesoamerican sculpture and will discuss how their work is influenced by living on both sides of the Mexican-American border. Admission is free but you must make reservations. Find more info by following this link.
Seattle will host two major arts conferences this year, the Society of North American Goldsmiths will be in Seattle May 26 -29. And the annual Glass Art Society conference will take place June 1-5. Traver Gallery will be hosting related exhibitions. If you're in town, please come say hello! We look forward to seeing everyone.
We wish you a very happy new year, and look forward to seeing you soon!
Kind regards,
Traver Gallery
