Infinite Mirror: Images of
American Identity is an exhibition that explores Americas image of itself
through 60 diverse works of art by 42 artists. Utilizing portraiture and
figurative images and focusing on
works
of art made on paper, the exhibition tells the story of an array of triumphs,
tragedies, relationships, and traditions that inform our notions of nationhood.
Artwork by Faith Ringgold, Elizabeth Catlett, Luis Jimenez, and Jacob Lawrence
highlight this
powerful
exhibition.
Infinite Mirror is developed by
Artrain, Inc. and Brandywine workshop, Philadelphia, PA, and toured by
International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC. Presented with support from
MetLife Foundation, the
Institute
of Museum & Library Services, the National Endowment for the Arts, the
Michigan Council for the Arts, and the International Fine Print Dealers
Association.
The SUArt Galleries are located
in the Shaffer Art Building, Syracuse University campus. Open to the public
Tuesday through Sunday 11:00am - 4:30pm and Thursday evenings until 8:00pm,
closed Mondays.
Weekend and evening visitors can
park in the Q4 lot on College Place. Notify the attendant that you are
visiting the Galleries and you will be directed where to park. Parking is
on a space available basis
and
may be restricted during events held at the Carrier Dome. If spaces are
not available, the attendant will direct you to the nearest
lot.
