Statement: NOT YET LEGAL
Not yet legal is what many of us say, making references to the laws that hamper us from having a significant impact on our society. Being a young artist really is about showing our interpretation of the world through our eyes and the feelings this brings out in us. Put our age aside and open up your mind to when you were young. Not yet Legal is an interpretation of the world through the eyes of a younger generation. We’ve taken this opportunity to express our thoughts that are not always heard or taken seriously. Since we are the future of society, our opinions and criticisms on the world will have a huge impact on what the world we live in will become.
The artists of this show are a young collection of students from the 11th grade visual art program of De la Salle Public High School and a student fr
om the University of Ottawa. These are the artists that I am surrounded by and who have inspired me as I grew to be my own person and artist. Over the years I couldn’t help but notice our strong opinions regarding our surroundings. This exposition will allow us to expose our art and opinions to a greater audience. This will help adults see how we are not young delinquents, but are rather trying to abolish corruption and stereotypes in hopes of a better future. - JANELLE BOSSÉ, 2011

Art for me, in a world that grows colder by the minute, is all about the power to make a person reach back into their subconscious and feel something.
Emilio Sebastiao
Art lets me accomplish so many things and voice many opinions that would need to be explained in a thousand times more words.
Pascale Lewis
Art is not only a cherished hobby of mine; it has come to be apart of my lifestyle and has also served as an everyday creative and emotional outlet.
Mel Wong
Art has always allowed me to take a step back from the world to observe, learn, critique, love, dream and discover little pieces of myself, others and our reality.
Shaya Ishaq
Everyone is born an artist; we're capable of seeing things through our own eyes and communicating our ideas of the world and our own universes.
Danika Hopper-Naud
I use art in the same way I use music;
they help me vent and express my feelings in a creative way that allows me to easily share them with others.
Natalie Castilloux
Until this point, I’ve been drawing like there’s no tomorrow, and I think I will continue until I just can’t anymore. After all, you only have one life to live, might as well make it the best one.
Adam Black
art for me is a journey of self discovery, an adventure into the inner realms of the human soul.
Janelle Bosse
The reason I started to do art and the reason I will never stop is because I have found my voice thru art and I will continue to say as much as possible till the day I die.
